New band Needs a NAME

Ok folks... We got a new band in the works....


One of my fav pasttimes at home is cranking the Surround Sound with a Concert DVD and Just Closing my eyes and Listening... and I really think there are others out there just like me!! So why not a band that cators to THAT niche!!!!!!

Music you love... but Maybe you cant dance to it....


there will be NO songs like Brown eye'd Girl, Old time Rock n Roll, and Sweet Home Alabama..... in this band... Personally, I'd rather eat a warm cup of hamster Vomit then to EVER play those tunes (and there are others) again...

Any musicians out there can relate... Im sure..


Instead of playing the old stadard tunes like the ones I just mentioned... this band is gonna tackle stuff like ... Into the mystic, Against the Wind and I know a little.. by the same artists.... also chuck in some Boston (Foreplay/Longtime) Pink Floyd (Shine on Crazy Diamond, or Time, complete with Intro and sound effects) Deep Purple. (Lazy, or Maybe Im a leo) and so on.... and so on.........

Sure, you can't dance to most of that stuff... But Who else out there is playing it.... NO ONE.. and these are tunes WE ALL LOVE to hear... well.. ok, maybe not everyone... but a lot of people...

I call it the "Bongwater" effect.. where you can just zone out into the music.. the Music becomes like a Drug that just takes you...

I'll admit... there are nay-sayers do have a point... its most likely that we'll never play the liqour Dome or Palace playing that kind of stuff.. and thats true...it will be hard to get paying gigs with that style of music.... But I dont care.... this is just for the Pure JOY of music...

I think with tunes like theses.. .. we'd initialy be relegated to the House parties... and/or B-list bars... BUT i think we'd quickly build a Loyal Following of Music Lovers... and would then gain some real frigging Momentum....

personally, I'd rather play to a half full bar of people who came just to see the band.. then capacity crowd that would have come anyway.. and halfway through some little tart comes up and says "Um, excuse me.. but do you know when is the DJ gonna start anyway?" arrrgggg!!!!! theres nothing worst......

Anyway... to get to the point...

We Got a band now..

6 guys (and maybe a lady singer as well for a total of 7) and Things are coming together really well...

All guys who have Jobs/families... which come first.. but also LOVE music.. and are not in this for cash-money-dance-gigs..... We just want to play COOL tunes we love...

Anyway... We got 9 tunes Down so far...

I thought.. In keeping with the Whole theme of Music being like a drug.. but better... that "Bongwater" would be a cool name.. (Hence the Blog's name) but its still not decided...

I also loved the movie "Almost famous" in which the feature band was called StillWater (another cool name)

Of course, there's a potential negative connotation.. But if bands like Third Eye Blind, Finger Eleven, Doobie Bros, and Barenaked ladies worked out well..... Why not Bong water??

Another idea that was floated was "Laid Back Citizens" which I also think is cool... but were open to Suggestions...
