Jam Party was a BLAST!!!

Well, It's 2007.. and while tonight we just watched a movie on the couch, Saturday night we ROCKED...

I only have a few pics so far (curtosy of Steve Fury and Belinda Riles) but as I get more emailed to me from other people, I'll post them as well....

I didn't realize, until recently, that people actually read this site and/or checked in on it from time to time...

In truth.. I thought it a neat way to keep mom and dad up to date on whats going on up here, especially if its one of those weeks ya aint got time to call.... But even then, I thought it was really more like that Corner Gas episode where Hank starts blogging.

Anyway... come to find out... people actually read this dribble... not a lot, but a few! so I guess I'd better be a little careful what I say... lol..

but to get to the point, it was also pointed out recently (politely) that my "stories", while not un-interesting, can "tend to be a little long and drawn out" anyway... I thought about it... and it actualy makes sense... cause I tend to be the same way in person.. (ha ha ha)

anyway... eventually I hope to get an actual 'busines' oriented web site for some of the stuff im working on... I even own the domain names already... So those, i'll pay more attention to content, and all that jazz, for here, however, I don't even spell check...

So i'll shut up now, and let the pictures do the talking...

Me and Steve Matheson

Dave ONGO , from the NS band "BARNACLE" is on Keys here, Steve Fury on Lead, Steve Singing, Rob Francis on Drums, Dave Delany on Bongos

That's Bugs Greene on the Mandolin on the Right....

Bugs Really got the Crowd Jumping when he got the Fiddle out!!!

Me and Rob Jamming with Bugs

That's Dereck Walters from Da Rock on the bass now (Derecks a Drummer, but plays a mean bass Also!!! )

Steve and Steve

one of the early Jams... Steve Fury and Dave knew each other before, and I know all three, but Dave had never met the other Steve (singing) and the Steves had never met before... (arg, that was a mouhful... need coffee)

Steve And Steve

David Delany

Sandy Beagan: Full Circle

Assorted Guitar Cases!

Jon Matheson

Jon Matheson on the Left, and his Uncle, Steve Matheson, on the right...

We had a lot of bands up.. many more then these pics so far.. So as I get more pics, I will post them..

Special thanks again to:
-Scott Cheverie and Steve Matheson (and Wayne) who helped me set up the PA... I'd have been still there trying to figure it all out without you guys..
-Michelle Rizok and Belinda Riles for Setting up tables...
-Jon Matheson, Rob Francis, Dave Delany, and Steve who helped me tear down al the gear, and Scotty who helped me load it up again...
- all the bands and musicians who came and played... I hope you had fun also..
-everyone who brought food! wow!! there was a lot (also thanks for keeping the bulk of it next to the sound board... made for easy access!!!)
-and to all thoe who contributed to the PA rental fund... We didnt quite break even, but it was well worth it for all the fun we had! .
-and to Michelle and Mike for hosting the "after party" . not the first time I've made the walk accross the street at or just before daylight!!! good times!!

I would like to send out an appology to anyone who wanted to play and didnt get to, or maybe had your set cut short... Among others, "Fuller Terrace" was at the event, but had to leave early... I was hoping to get them up to do a few songs from their upcoming album...but we ran a little to late on the first few acts and they couldnt stay... My appologies Bernie, but thank you for coming....

anyway, for all you music fans out there however, I've heard a preview mix of the Fuller Terrace album and its Awesome, I'd highy encourage you to buy it when it comes out in the new year...

And last but not least, cudos to Trena... as this was actually her idea from the get go... although i'm not 100% sure if it stems from a support of my love of music, or concern for the state our house would be in if we had it there .. likely a combination of both..

Looking ahead to next December: We've already booked the hall again for Dec 29, 2007.. and hope to do it all again..

and while it all went ok for our first stab at it, there were a Couple lessons learned for next time..
1. get a dedicated sound guy
2. more structure regarding who plays when and for how long
3. maybe some lights and a back drop...
4. get the Fiddle and Newfie Music (i.e. Bugs and Da Rock) on nearest to the end to keep the party Hopping!!! All the music was great, but nothing like the pure energy in a tune like St. Annes Reel to pack the dance floor, and keep it packed!!!

also, as this thing grew,I've actually gotten a few emails back from people who were likely added to the "evite" list by other people who were on the initial mail out, wondering who the hell I was, and if I could stop emailling them... Now, I hate spam as much as the next guy, so as a result, I'm actually gonna delete the email list that this has grown to, and start fresh for the next one... so if you would like to get details for next years... if you would like to come listen, play, jam, whatever.. please email me directly at: bongwatermusic@eastlink.ca and i'll make sure we keep you in the loop..

Cheers for now..

Hey Rob,

Had a great time, can't wait until next year. It could also start earlier, for the hard core jammers, also be able to get the sound check bugs worked out...

and, its too bad that StilBite couldn't play :(

But, overall awesome time.

Hi Gary Chedore from Donnyz Keyperz (Kevin White’s band) I was the bass player with the KISS T-shirt lefty, I just want to say I’m still high from our set, we had a good time, you were a great help, helping all the bands and players onstage with tech probs etc, you made us feel welcome and honored to play at your party, an enormous effort by you, it was a great time, sorry we had to leave so quickly after out set, Robert/Sharleen had to get home because of their babysitter and they were my drive, great bass playing by yourself, you are too modest when you mentioned in your blog that were were not that good as you would like to be, pat yourself on the back, you were great

also when the recording is available I’d like a copy of that please, pass it on to Kevin White, we will reimburse you any costs you may have in the production of the recording, please let us know either through myself or Kevin White when it’s available, Again Thanks Again Bravo Zulu to you man, it’s early morning having a few drinks still high from the gig!!!!
