3 Reasons Why the Bon Jovi Concert was BETTER then the Stones
Ok, I'll take heat for this... maybe... but its true....
Now, first, I'll give credit where credit is due, the Stones have been around since the 60s and written and recorded KICK ass tunes, like Angie, Wild Horses, 19th Nervous Breakdown and more.
Mick, at 63? has more energy and stage presence then most 18year olds..
and the BAND gave it 110% in crappy weather.. that said...
1) the Bon Jovi Staging was every bit, if not more impressive (only thing missing was that moving stage)
These Pics dont do it justice, but it was every bit as impressive as the Stones Staging...
2) Sound Quality... maybe it had a little to do with the weather, but I was grossly unimpressed with the sound quality oif the Stones show... the PA was just not as powerful, nor did it sound as clear... the Bon Jovi Show reminded me of Pink Floyds Momentary Lapse of Reason tour i caught in 87.. No, bon Jovi didnt have Surround staduim sound like floyd did, but it was Clear as a BELL and Had BALLS!!! it was Kick ass!!
3) Musicianship. Ok, While Charlie Watts was amazing.. (the guys like a metronome, never misses).. and the Bass player and the supporting nameless musicians were also great, Keith Richards, while Iconic, and perhaps a great song writer... I thought his guitar playing was, well... Just not at the caliber I'd expect for someone who has the luxury to play guitar for a living!! To be brutally honest, I can through a rock in PortAuxBasques, or Halifax.. and Hit a dozen guys who can play better... Now, maybe they can't write a hit song, but those are two different things... And I can't say anything about Ronnie Wood playing as I couldnt hear him in the mix...
In contrast, however, Bon Jovi's entire band are Fantastic Musicians, and it makes one proud to see such hard work pay off.. You want to see guys like this succeed! They not only seem to work hard, but they at least appear to appreciate it a little more...
I'd go see them again in a heart beat!!!!
4) Weather... but thats beyond anyones control...
I think overal, the more that I think about it.. while Glad I went, Sand While I'd certainly go see a Mick Jagger Solo act, or a Charlie Watts Side project, I don't feel compelled to ever see the "Stones" again... but thats just me...
